"Hey guys, Grady Flattman with Grady Flattmann Attorneys At Law.
In this video we're going to talk aboutwhat full coverage actually means for insurance and what the bare minimum is in louisiana.
A lot of clients come in and they tell me that they are fully covered but what they mean is that they have the requiredamount of insurance by Louisiana law. In louisiana you're only required to have fifteen thousand dollars of insurance coverage for personal liability for one person in a car, thirty thousand dollars of personal liability insurance for everybody in a car, and then 25 000 of property damage insurance for damage to the other car or other property if it's your fault, so this is the bare minimum.
What happens if you cause a bad accident and you have the bare minimum? It could expose you to some serious personal liability, so a lot of times I'm asked "how can I protect myself"?
There are two easy ways to do so. Make sure your coverage is sufficient enough. Have a good conversation with your insurance agent about it. Next you want to cover yourself in the event someone causes an accident to you and they either don't have insurance coverage or have the bare minimum, and the ways to do that is to make sure you have UM coverage and what's called collision coverage, and we'll talk about those in some other videos.
If you don't know how much coverage you have or are wondering if you're fully covered we offer a free insurance review. All you have to do is send me the declarations page of your policy. You can email that to us and we'll schedule a free confidential10-minute phone call to go over your coverages and make sure you understand that you're fully covered. Our number is 985-590-6182."
