A woman suffered neck and lower back injuries after being rear-ended by a ride share driver while exiting the interstate in Baton Rouge. Despite having a ride share passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, the ride share company’s insurer initially would not verify that its driver was working. Sharon was driving her Toyota RAV4 in Baton Rouge and exiting the interstate at O’Neal Lane when she came to a stop while yielding to traffic.
While stopped, Sharon was suddenly rear-ended by a Honda. The Honda was being operated by a ride share driver who had a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Even before police arrived, the unusual circumstances surrounding the ride share claim began to develop. The passenger was observed signing a statement for the ride share driver before leaving the scene on foot.
Sharon was shaken up by the collision and soon began experiencing pain in her neck and lower back. She sought medical treatment and began physical therapy, participating in treatment for approximately a month and a half.
Fortunately, Sharon responded well to conservative treatment and ultimately made a full recovery within a few months of the accident.
Unfortunately, dealing with the ride share company’s insurance carrier was not nearly as straightforward.
The carrier initially created problems involving repairs to Sharon’s vehicle and her need for a rental vehicle. Despite the fact that the rideshare driver actually had a passenger in the Honda when the collision occurred, the insurance carrier also would not initially verify that its driver was working for the ride share service at the time of the crash.
